A PRINCESS FROM THE OCEAN

Childrens Poetry & Rhyming Stories by David Bray

Mrs Chips went to bed at 8'Oclock last night
She fluffed her pillows up and tucked herself in nice and tight
She read a wild story from her favourite book of tales
About a girl who saves a pod of stranded humpback whales

When she read, "The end," she closed the book and rubbed her eyes
Through her bedroom window she could see the full moon rise
She flicked the switch, the room was dark, wind blew through the willows
She fell asleep before her head had even touched the pillows

Before she knew it Mrs Chips was starring in a dream
The captain of a sailing ship, the leader of a team
All the gang from Flutterland were members of the crew
Dressed in rubber, fins and flippers, foggy goggles too

All around the sailing ship, as far as eyes could see
Water to the north, south, east and west naturally!
Nora Nodd sat in the crows nest, telescope in hand
Looking out for pirates, dolphins, humpback whales and land

Gracie read the compass, navigation was her job
Making lunch for all the crew was left to Larry Lobb
Captain Pete the pilot raised the sails upon the mast
The wind was blowing from the south, the ship was sailing fast
