BRING ME BEEF AND PORK

Childrens Poetry & Rhyming Stories by David Bray

Gracie may be smallest but she will not eat the least
"I am like a lion when you lead me to a feast"
In a corner of the restaurant a band just starts to strum
The smells drift from the kitchen, BB sighs and yells out, "Yum!"

Larry lifts his glass and cries, "Three cheers to love and life"
Charlie Fripp says, "Humbug, bring me bacon for my knife"
Mrs Chips is first to get her dinner to her mouth
She says, "Look out below, my hot spaghetti's heading south"

Charlie Fripp is always last, it's more than he can handle
"If I don't get my dinner soon, I'll have to eat this candle"
Everybody eats and drinks, then dances to the band
Larry Lobb and Nora Nodd are waltzing hand in hand

Charlie finally gets his dinner and stuffs it in his belly
"Now waiter, don't just stand there, bring me apricots and jelly!"
Mrs Chips says, "Thanks for such a night we won't forget"
And wipes the corner of her mouth with her serviette

Everyone goes quietly, leaving Charlie with the tab
He yells, "Come back you scally-wags" when he hears the cab
Mrs Chips says, "That was great, I love it when we rome"
Gracie says, "You're right! but I can't wait till we get home"
